Can you spell W-I-N-N-E-R?!?!

Monroe City Schools would like to congratulate Bre'Anne Washington, an eighth-grader at Robert E. Lee Junior High School, as the winner of the Scripps 2019 All Parish Spelling Bee held March 1 at Ouachita Junior High School.  She spelled better than 47 other competitors from Monroe City Schools, Ouachita Parish School, local private schools, and home schooling associations.  Her winning word, after four hours of spelling, was "effervescently".  We are so proud of all our spellers (please see news article below), and especially Bre'Anne who will go on to represent us in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.  Watch for her on ESPN!
