    About the TLTC

The first four Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT) Centers were established in December 1998. The Region VIII TLTC was one of the four established at that time. TLT Centers were awarded and funded through the Federal Technology Literacy Challenge Professional Development Grant initiative. Five additional TLT Centers and one branch TLTC were identified in the 1999-2000 school year. Each TLT Center is designed to serve as an extension of the Louisiana Division of Leadership and Technology and provide technology training services to educators in the immediate and surrounding parishes.

Each TLT Center Technology Facilitator works with the DLT staff in the continued implementation, development and refinement of the Louisiana INTECH K-6 and Louisiana INTECH 7-12 professional development projects. Each TLT Center provides technology training during the school year and summer that includes the (1) INTECH Classroom Module, (2) Technical Support courses, and (3) Administrative Support courses.

The Region VIII TLTC is located on the campus of The University of Louisiana at Monroe in Strauss Hall 161. Louisiana INTECH is taught in Strauss Hall 161 for graduate and undergraduate credit in Curriculum and Instruction 482 with tuition paid by the TLTC grant.

The first Louisiana INTECH class was held in June 1999. Approximately 4000 educators from the Region 8 School Districts have been trained in Louisiana INTECH, INTECH2 Social Studies and Science, Proficiency Express, LILI, LaTEL, Essentials, Technology Applications Workshops, and Professional Development Workshops.
