RENAISSANCE PROGRAM POLICIES

  1. Candidacy

a. The following grades are used for determining eligibility and level of program membership:

First 9-weeks Second 9-weeks Third 9-weeks, Fourth 9-weeks

b. The time period for unexcused absences, tardiness, and reports of disciplinary action are the same as for grades.

c. At the end of each 9-weeks period, all students must reapply for membership and meet all criteria.

  1. Membership

  1. Applications must be completed and turned in by the deadline; students are responsible for getting and completing their applications.

  2. All applications will be checked by members of the Renaissance committee; students who fail to meet all criteria will be notified of the reason in conference with Dr. Dawson.

  3. All cards are property of Neville High School’s Renaissance program and are to be relinquished upon the request of any member of the Renaissance committee.

  4. Renaissance tee shirts are to be worn only by active members of the Renaissance program or graduates of Neville who were active members of Renaissance. [Only active members of the Renaissance program may wear Renaissance tee shirts at school.]

  1. Removal from Membership

Note: Since Renaissance membership is a reward based on past performance, and continuing membership in the program is based on continued exemplary behavior, any minor failures (such as an unexcused tardy or absence or a disciplinary report for a minor infraction) will result in a loss of membership at the next quarter, so that members will not be penalized twice for the same infraction.

  1. Any Renaissance member who is suspended or expelled from school is automatically removed from the program from the moment of his suspension or expulsion.

  2. Any Renaissance student who is placed in the alternative school will automatically forfeit membership from the moment of his assignment to that program.

  3. Since Renaissance students are ambassadors for Neville High School, any Renaissance student who is arrested will be removed from the program upon determination of the Renaissance committee.
