What's it all about?

~Well first, GPA clubs are for students only. Students who are serious about abstinence lead the clubs and recruit others. These clubs meet periodically to support students like you in your pledge to remain abstinent until marriage.

~As a GPA Club member, you (along with everyone else, of course) will find out how to educate your school and community on issues like sexually transmitted diseases and why abstinence outside of marriage is the healthiest choice.

~Four times a year, you also get a chance to meet other students from around the state, learn more about promoting abstinence, and have a blast at the same time. (By the way, these events are off-campus.)

Health Facts

b
In 1970 there were two major sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Today there are 25 major STDs.
b 15 million new cases of STDs are projected for this year, two-thirds to young people between 14 and 25 years of age.
b For every unwed teenager who gets pregnant this year, 10 teenagers will get an STD.
b T oday the most prevalent STD is the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which causes 99.7% of all cervical cancer. There will be 5.5 million new cases of HPV in America this year. 5,000 American women will die this year from cervical cancer.
b Abstinence is the only method of STD prevention that is 100% effective.
b More women die each year from HPV/cervical cancer than from HIV/AIDS.
b HPV can be spread by skin-to-skin contact. Condoms cannot protect against infection with HPV.
