CC: Give an equation in the form of 30 candies / x = 10 candies for each student. If 30 is shared among some number of students, and each receives 10, how many students could there have been? Alternately, If a given number of students each receives 10 in a sharing and there was a total of 30 to begin with, how many students are there? Getting students to think through the motions of sharing, both forward and backward, provides a basis for later work in algebraic solving of these and related sentences in symbolic form.
