Activity 1:  Make Your Own Fossils (SI GLEs: 13, 14, 15, 16; ESS GLE: 31)

CC:  Ask the students to define the word fossil. Make a list of student comments on the board or on an overhead

transparency. Ask the students how we know what conditions on Earth's surface were a long time ago.
