The Tiger's Eye
Welcome to the Tiger's Eye, a site which will keep you informed about what's happening at Lexington Elementary School. Students in Mrs. Carly McDuffie's 6th grade ELA class have interviewed, scripted, and recorded news around the school.
The students become quite clever reporters when using NewsMaker software. This software will allow one to be creative and have fun when developing writing skills.
"The Tiger's Eye" was created as part of the 21st Century Learning Project which was sponsored through the Monroe City Schools Instructional Technology Department funded through EETT. Creative Writing with a Twist Sixth grade students completed a creative writing activity using NewsMaker software. They wrote stories about a surprising event that interrupted Christmas. Students first assigned each team member a role, and they wrote scripts for their news broadcasts using a visual organizer. Each group typed their script into NewsMaker and read from the teleprompter to create a news broadcast. They did a wonderful job!
